Grahame currently leads a team of vehicle engineers that set specification for Royal Mail Group’s 47,000 vehicle fleet; the largest in Europe. His team also support Royal Mail Fleet’s network of 110 workshops across the UK in the delivery of service, maintenance and repair for Royal Mail and external customers. The team are constantly looking to innovate, to improve the efficiency of the fleet and to reduce the environmental impact.
Grahame started his career in Royal Mail Fleet’s workshops before moving into transport management in 1987 where he was managing several different business units within the Group. Following some time managing in regional distribution centres to process mail in the south east, he returned to the Royal Mail Fleet in 2013 leading the Engineering and Fleet Compliance teams.
The Rise of Electric Vehicles
In a joint session delivered by Grahame Bennett of Royal Mail and Matt Key of electric vehicle manufacturer Arrival, Grahame will outline Royal Mail's investments in electric vehicles, including the year long nine-vehicle trial of Arrival vehicles in central London.
Grahame will discuss his role in ensuring efficiency across the largest fleet in Europe, through innovation and best practice. He will focus on Royal Mail's investment in electric, looking at the potential benefits and what the future may hold.
Matt Key will then give an overview of the technology revolution powering the rise of electric vehicles, looking at the benefits and barriers, and what the future holds in terms of heavy electric vehicles and their uses in industry.
