Delivering an Improved Service for UK Transport

Richard Turfitt, Senior Traffic Commissioner

Richard Turfitt is a barrister and took up his appointment as Traffic Commissioner for the Eastern Traffic Area on 1st May 2008.  Richard has also taken up the role of Senior Traffic Commissioner from 1st June 2017.  He was the author of the first Statutory Guidance and Statutory Directions. 

Richard has extensive experience of both regulatory regimes and criminal offences.  He was head of the HSE’s Litigation and Enforcement Advisory Team, responsible for the conduct of HSE’s highest profile prosecutions and litigations policy.  Richard also helped to found the Health and Safety Lawyers’ Association and is a serving Justice of the Peace.

Session Overview

In his role as Senior Traffic Commissioner Richard will outline the strategic objective of the Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain to deliver an improved service for the UK transport and logistics industry.

Taking the reigns from outgoing TC Beverley Bell in 2017, the conference will be an opportunity for Richard to outline his approach and update delegates on progress.
